Human Security & Resilience
Polity aims to strengthen resilience through research, policy evaluation, and impact analysis in security, governance, socio-economic development, and international affairs. Operating within a human security framework, it recognises that security challenges now include economic stability, social cohesion, institutional integrity, energy security, and democracy. In a connected world, threats are non-linear and multidimensional. Polity adopts a holistic approach, protecting against vulnerabilities such as crime, disinformation, institutional fragility, and polarisation to maintain societal resilience. By examining these vulnerabilities, Polity provides strategic foresight for lasting resilience. Resilience is seen as the capacity of institutions and societies to withstand, recover, anticipate, and adapt to systemic shocks.
By combining qualitative and quantitative methods, Polity provides dependable evidence that underpins informed decision-making at both national and European levels. Polity aims to operate at this intersection, translating research into actionable policy insights that improve institutional capacity and long-term stability.
Our History
Polity was founded in 2016 in Bulgaria as a student-led civic initiative uniting students from multiple universities and social science disciplines. The initiative organised public lectures, policy discussions, and debates on significant national and international issues, hosting distinguished academics, policymakers, and senior public officials.
Over time, its members gained professional experience in national and international institutions, non-governmental organisations, auditing and consulting firms, and academic research institutes.
Today, these individuals reunite as professionals with complementary expertise, building a sustainable organisation grounded in methodological rigour, institutional understanding, and practical policy engagement.
